Kinja'd!!!

Spyker for your time.

My trip to Pittsburgh is just around the corner, and I’m pretty excited. The main reason I’m putting together this post, though, is that I’m looking for stuff to do in the area.

So, if you live around Pittsburgh or just in Pennsylvania in general, what kind of gearhead-centric things can you recommend for me to do? What kind of meets are going on? I’ll be coming through from June 3rd to about June 5th so that’s what we’re looking at time-frame wise. Any non-gearhead things are also welcome.

I know there’s meets in the area, I looked at the apparent Cars and Coffee of the area, but their rules were super snobby and I doubt I’ll even be there the correct day to actually go to it, so if you know of any weekly meets or something to look out for, let me know.

I’m in Eastern PA so others will have better advice.

If you want to have a lot of fun driving, leave PA and spend the day driving through West Virginia. US 250 from Philippi WV to Staunton VA is fantastic, and so is rt 93 near Bismarck WV.

If you’ve never been, the Duquesne Incline is pretty neat and offers a great view of the city.

We’re doing a lot of scenic routes through the Carolinas and VA so I’ll definitely keep a look out.

Heinz museum if you are stuck in downtown (but I wouldn’t make a special trip downtown just for that...). Bridges. Many Bridges

Pittsburgh is.... not really a car kind of town. We get some good events, but the meets are mostly standard Winga-Dinga esque car cruises. I haven’t bothered to go to the cars and covefe. Although, I checked and Carlisle is having their ford nationals june 1-3. Carlisle hosts some of the biggest car shows in the country, but it’s a decent haul outside of Pittsburgh. Plus you have to pay for some stupid reason.

Not really much to do outside of the usual. Pittsburgh has a ducky tour with those WW2 boat trucks:

but off the top of my head nothing. You really should come up for the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix.

Food? Primanti brothers for sure. Other nice things are the various Carnegie museums. Pretty sizeable. Zoo is okay, nothing special. Our local amusement park (kennywood) is a must if you like wooden rollercoasters, not really a thrill ride park though.

The state roads through Virginia and West Virginia are exactly what you are looking for.

No way that I will have my car running by then :(
